He was baptized on Dec 26 1807 in Evangelical Lutheran Church, Brothersvalley Twp., Somerset Co., Pennsylvania. He died on Mar 13 1888 in Ridgeway, Hale Twp, Hardin Co., Ohio. He was a day laborer in Pleasant Twp., Clark Co., Ohio. 1880 U.S. Census Birthplace Pa. Vol. 32 E.D. 109 Sh 19 L 20 Residence Hardin County, Taylor Creek Twp. Mexican War Pension application made by his widow Mary A. Cox Harsh May 28 1888 Daniel Harsh as a private in the company commanded by Captain Ruff. U S mounted Rifles. He enlisted January 1847 and soon thereafter went to Vera Cruz, Mexico and took part in that siege and the following campaigns to City of Mexico and was honorably discharged at Pueblo Mexico on the 5th of November 1847.

SECOND GENERATION

2. Johann Frederich HERSH was born on Oct 28 1765 in Weisenberg Twp., Northampton Co., Pa.. Weisenberg Twp settled in 1734 incorporated in 1753 from Macengel Township while part of Northumpberland County until 1812 when it bacame part of Leigh Co. He signed a will on Jan 13 1855 in East Liberty, Brothersvalley Tp., Sommerset Co., Pennsylvania. Will proven April 14, 1855.

In the name of "God Amen". The last Will and testament of Frederick Harsh of the Town of East Liberty in the Township of Brothersvalley in the County of Somerlset, Pennsylvania. I. Frederick Harsh considering the uncertainty of this mortal life and being of Sound mind and memory (Blessed be Almighty God for the same) do make and publish this my last will testament in manner and form following, that is to say. I will that all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid out of the first money coming into the hands of my exceuters are authorized and empowered to sell convey to the purchaser any and all my real estate left at my death. First; I give and bequeath unto my daughter Catharine, the stove and pipes tht she has now in use in the house she now resides. To Leah Cossel wife of George Cossel. I give my cow that she has now in use. And balance of my estate that is left is be equally divided between my daughters and sons, herein after named viz: Catharine Troutman, Rosanna married to George Mull, Elisabath & Regina Martz children of my daughter Sally (are to have one share ) Elizabeth who was married to Peter Auman. Polly who was married to Frederick Zimmerman, Lydia who was married to Daniel Brougher, Eliza married to Jonathan Shallis, Regina married to Mathias Shallis, Julian married to Emanuel Shallis, my sons Daniel, John and Jacob. But what is charged to my sons and daguhters on a book kept by me for that purpose to be deducted first from their shares, but if more is charge on said book against any of them than their share will come to my will is it shall not be collected of said children, and those that have already received shall get nothing until the rest are made equal, and to my son Peter, I give one Spanish Milled Dollar in full for his share. And I make and ordain my trusty friend and nephew Alexander N. Sheldon and George Cossel Exceuters of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former wills by me mde. In witness where of I have hereunto set my hand and seal this thirteenth day of January in the year of our Lord One Thousand eight hundred and fifty-five.

Witness: Jacob Hiner and John Krissinger He died in Apr 1855 in East Liberty, Brothersvalley Tp., Sommerset Co., Pennsylvania. Bret Lindeman submitted a family group sheet showing a marriage to Maria Sophia Geiger May 13, 1794 Greenwich Twp., Berks Co., Pa. I don't believe this to be correct. On the baptism of Daniel is shows Parents as Frederick Hersh and Catherine and on all real estate sales the wife is given as Catharine.
