Mrs. Phil (Yolah) Hastings, Prospect, a close friend who she considered an adopted daughter, survives, as do some cousins. The service will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Stofcheck Funeral Home, LaRue, with Dr. J. Brien McGarvey officiating. Burial will follow in Price Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Paul Trihaft, Ronnie James, Ross Dennis, Ron Turner, Wayne Hastings and Chester Kurtz. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. and in the evening Tuesday. The family moved several times during Luvie's growing up years. They lived in Clairbourne Township, Union County, Ohio for a few years and then returned to Henry County were Lawrence was born in 1892. The family eventully moved to Morrow County, Ohio were Luvie met and married Burt Potts. Luvie did remember her grandfather Junkin Mulvain, but no specific details. She felt much closer to her Grandfather Browning. He was a part time preacher. Luvie and Burt were married in Morrow County. They lived in an around Fulton until about 1928 when they moved to Marion were Burt started to work for The Marion Power Shovel Company. He had been a blacksmith in Fulton all of his life. He had learned the trade from his father Charles Bartley "Bart" Potts. His father died a suicide in 1898. Bart had been an alcoholic and hung himself. Burt was fairly successful for his time. The family had the first auto and first Victor record player in Fulton. Their daughter Dorothy married Alfred Shoewalter while the family lived in Fulton. Alfred abandoned the family just before Dorothy"s twins, Foy and Frieda was born. The twins were born in Fulton at the home of Luvie Potts. Their son Gerald married Irene Andrews in Fulton and had their first son, Gerald Jr., born in Fulton in 1927. Burt purchased the Peiffer home in Meeker in 1928. The family including the families of the son Gerald and daughter Dorothy all moved to Meeker. The family lived in Meeker the rest of their lives. Gerald and Irene's daughter Barbara was born in Meeker. Luvie was not easly to get along with which made live difficult for the in-laws that were forced to live with her because of the depression. When Irene found herself pregnant with their 2 son, Gene she moved to Barbarton, Ohio. When the boy was born she notified Gerald that she was unable to care for the child and unless he came to pickup the boy would be put in a orphanage. Gerald and Luvie went to Barbarton to get the boy. Gerald and Irene were then divorced. Dorothy married Kenneth Oliver in Meeker on June 16, 1930. Their first daughter Jance was born at the Luvie's home July 22, 1931. Dorothy and Kenneth left Meeker soon after and moved to Hepburn, Hardin County, Ohio. They lived in Harding County, Ohio the rest of their lives. Foy and Frieda was raised by Burt and Luvie. The graduated from Meeker High School. Gerald's children lived with Burt and Luvie durig most of the thrity's. Gerald spent some time during the depression with Uncle Lawrence Mulvain in Durrant, Illinois. His children stayed with their grandparents. Gerald married Rowena Sims August 29, 1938 at the home of Rev. LaRue north of LaRue, Ohio. Gerald and Rowena and his three children moved to their first home a mile north and a mile west of Sally Ann in Grand Township, Marion County, Ohio. Eventfully Barbara and Gerald Jr went to live with their mother in Shelby, Ohio. Gene was raised by Rowena and graduated from Meeker High School. Burt and Luvie belonged to the Fulton Methodist Church and later the Meeker Methodist Church. Burt was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Cardington. They belonged to the Odd Fellows and lady auxilary in Cardington. Burt was a squirrel hunter and I remember hunting with him a child. He would set real still and wasn't happen when I moved. Burt retired from the Power Shovel Company in about 1952 at 70 years of age. Burt was a very quiet man.
