FIRST GENERATION

1. Ami CLUFF (CLUFF) (PHOTO) was born on November 26, 1834 in Durham, Ontario, Canada. He died on November 3, 1904 in Claridon Twp., Marion Co., Ohio. He was buried on November 5, 1904 in Likens Chapel, Marion Twp., Marion Co., Ohio. THE MARION STAR; Ami Cluff was born in Durham, Canada Nov. 26, 1834, and died Nov. 3, 1904. He came to this country in 1835, where he has since lived. Jan. 13, 1856 he was married to Miss Joanna Jump. (JUMP) He was converted to Christianity about 1856 at Cardington, Ohio, under the preaching of Rev. Lemuel Herbert. Since then he had lived the life of the faithful. One might always find him in his place lin the church, but not only there but all over the circut. He has been spoken of as one deeply interested in the cause of religion, to which cause he gave much of his time and strength. For a short time he was a licensed exhorter in the church, and as such took charge of services at different places in the circut. He came to the end in the faith that so long had kept him in the path of righteousness. He did not go to death alone, but in company with him who said, "Who then passth through the waters. I will be with thee." The deceased is survived by a wife, four children, Olive E. Smith, Wealthy A. Foos, Thomas H. and Walter S., and a sister, Mrs. Lenora Stearns; seventeen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. The Funeral was held at the Likens Methodist Epliscopal Chapel 10:30 o'clock, and was conducted by the pastor, Rev. James E. Coons.

SECOND GENERATION

v. Isaac CLUFF was born in 1836 in Ontario, Canada. He married Phoebe Jump March 17, 1957 in Marion County, Ohio. She was a sister to Joan Jump wife of Ami Cluff. Phoebe Jump married 2^nd Nathaniel "Nathan" Baker.(BAKER) He died before 1873 in Marion, Marion Co., Ohio.

vi. Thomas CLUFF was born in 1838 in Marion Co., Ohio. He died before 1880.

vii. David CLUFF was born in 1840 in Morrow Co., Ohio. He died before 1880.

THIRD GENERATION

4. Wadleigh CLOUGH was born on August 18, 1767 in Andover, Merrimack Co., New Hampshire. He died on January 14, 1847 in South Washington, Orange Co., Vermont. The Genealogy of the Descendants of John Clough of Salisbury, Massachusetts Published by The John Clough Genealogical Society, Inc 1952 #857 Wadleigh (Moses, Jabez, Zacheus, Thomas, John) Born Aug. 19, 1767 in Deerfield, N. H. (Vt V.R.) He went to Andover, N. H., with his parents. He married Hannah Scribner. In 1793 he was living in Strafford, Vermont where a Clough Cemetery is so named from the number of the Clough FAmily who settled in the town. Some years later, he cleared land in Washington, Vt. Wadleigh died in South Washington, Vt. on Jan 14, 1847, probably then living in the home of his son, Ammi Clough. Hannah died Sept 3, 1856, aged 84 years. They are buried in the South Washington Cemetery. He was married to Hannah SCRIBNER on December 1, 1789.

5. Hannah SCRIBNER was born in 1772 in Andover, Merrimack Co., New Hampshire. She died on September 25, 1856 in South Washington, Orange Co., Vermont.

8. Moses CLOUGH was born on June 6, 1742 in Poplin, New Hampshire. He died on March 22, 1829 in Andover, Merrimack Co., New Hampshire. The Genealogy of the Descendants of John Clough of Salisbury, Massachusetts Published by The John Clough Genealogical Society, Inc 1952 Moses born June 6, 1742 at Poplin, New Hampshire Moses' grandfather Abraham Brown of South Hampton, N. H., in 1756 willed to him 200 pounds in money. Quote:"Son of my daughter, Miriam." She died on Oct 30, 1748, the wife of Jabez - 4. Nov 8, 1764 he married Molly Cram at Hawke, N.H., but both then living in Nottingham, N.H. Moses was an Ensign in Col. Stickney's Regt. March 5, 1776. He was living in Deerfield, N.H. in 1772, was tax collector in Andover, N.H., in 1775 and assessor of taxes there in 1777. As late as 1789-1800 he was on the tax lists in Andover, N.H., and was tything man at the meeting house. He died March 22, 1829 and Molly died on Jan 7, 1824. both were then living with their daughter, Hannah Clough Hilton at Andover, N.H. He was married to Mary CRAM on November 8, 1764 in Hawke, New Hampshire.

9. Mary CRAM was christened on February 27, 1743 in Kensington, Rockingham Co., New Hampshire. She died on January 7, 1824 in Andover, Merrimack Co., New Hampshire. She was born in Andover, Merrimack Co., New Hampshire.

On Nov 12, 1741 he married Miriam Brown, born Nov 12, 1719, daughter of Abraham -4-3 Henry-2-1. Miriam died on Oct 30, 1748 at Poplin, N.H. on Sept 6, 1749, Jabez married Sarah Young of Kingston, N.H., the Rev. Joseph Secombe performed the ceremony. (See Hoyt, page 460. Sal 2nd C.R.) Sarah died in Fremont, N.H. on March 2, 1807, and Jabez died in Andover, N.H. on April 14, 1808. He was married to Miriam BROWN on November 12, 1741 in Salisbury, Essex Co., Massachusetts.

32. Zaccheus CLOUGH was born on February 17, 1692 in Salisbury, Essex Co., Massachusetts. He died on July 30, 1757 in Salisbury, Essex Co., Massachusetts. The Genealogy of the Descendants of John Clough of Salisbury, Massachusetts Published by The John Clough Genealogical Society, Inc. 1952 Zacheus born Feb 17, 1692. He lived in Salisbury and was baptized there on Aug 5, 1711. On Jan 21, 1713 he married Sarah Page, the daughter of Joseph Page-3. They went to Kingston and their farm was a part of the town that was set off and called Poplin and is now Fremont, N.H. Zacheus owned land in Salem, N.H. and he was in Brentwood for a time, a parish that was set off from Exeter, N.H. in 1742, where he was a millwright. his wife died in "Brintwood" on May 19, 1764 and he died on July 30, 1757. Bequests in the will of Zacheus found on page 260, Vol 20 Probate Records of New Hampshire in the Historical Library at Concord, New Hampshire. He was married to Sarah PAGE on January 21, 1714 in Salisbury, Essex Co., Massachusetts.

SEVENTH GENERATION

64. Thomas CLOUGH was born on May 29, 1651 in Salisbury, Essex Co., Massachusetts. The Genealogy of the Descendants of John Clough of Salisbury, Massachusetts Published by The John Clough Genealogical Society, Inc 1952 Thomas born May 29, 1851 at Salisbury, Mass. On March 10, 1680 he married Hannah Gile who was born at Haverhill, Mass. On Feb 12 or 25, 1655; the daughter of Samuel and Judith (Davis) Gile, who resided first at Newbury, then removed to Haverhill, Mass. in 1640-42. At the time of his marriage, John clough gave to Thomas six acres of land, now the site of schoolhouse on Salisbury Plains (1950). This land adjoined the twelve acres that John Clough gave to his eldest son, John, at the time of his marriage. Thomas subscribed to the Oath of Fidelity and Allegiance in 1677. He joined the town militia for defense against the Indians. Hannah, the mother of two eldest sons, died Jan 22, 1684. For his second wife, Thomas married Ruth Connor, the daughter of Cornelius and Sarah Connor. Cornelius was a soldier and one of the original settlers of Salisbury. Ruth was born on May 16, 1670 at Salisbury, Mass. When the second church of Salisbury was organized in the West Parish, Thomas was one of the original twelve members and Ruth was admitted to membership on July 2, 1718. Thomas' name appears on the list of "Yoeman" meaning in English Law,a freeholder, one who was qualified to serve on juries and to vote in town meetings in 1730. Both Thomas and Ruth signed petitions to the General Court. Ruth died on Aug 5, 1727 and Thomas died before 1749. No copy of his will has been found upon record, but an inventory of his estate is preserved at the Probate Court Building in Salem, Mass (Record No. 5677) He was married to Ruth CONNOR in 1688 in Salisbury, Essex Co., Massachusetts.

65. Ruth CONNOR was born on May 16, 1670 in Salisbury, Essex Co., Massachusetts. She died on August 5, 1727 in Salisbury, Essex Co., Massachusetts.
