THAT IS TO SAY.
IN the hope that this volume will in after years recall to its patrons pleasant memories of by-gone
days, and preserve the likenesses of their former staunch comrades or friendly adversaries, and in
the further hope that it will furnish to its many readers useful and instructive information, the
publishers of the Ohio Blue Book present the result of their labors. The 73d General Assembly is
probably the most striking and memorable in the annals of that State whose history is the history
of the Union, and it is eminently fitting that the portraits and biographies of the actors in this
drama be preserved for future readers.
In the preparation of the book, we have to thank the kind co-operation of the members, the
courtesy shown us by the harper Illustrating Syndicate, by the printers, Hann & Adair, and
especially by Baker's Art Gallery, without whose assistance in making the photographs, this
volume would have been impossible.
