FORWARD
This book is a compilation of information that I have accumulated on the Potts family. I would like to thank the many people who helped me assemble this work by contributing information and details on their family lines. Most of these people are listed in the references section at the end of the book. As with all works of this sort, errors exist but have hopefully been kept to a minimum. Future editions will make an attempt to correct any erroneous information that comes to the attention of the author.
The numbering system assigns a unique number to each and every descendant of Thomas Potts. Children shown with an asterisk before their number have additional information in the following chapter, usually descendants of their own. People shown with two asterisks have additional information included in the Late Additions section, which includes information received too late to include in chapters already typed and indexed.
This book uses many abbreviations that can be confusing. Standard US Postal abbreviations are used for the States. Here is a listing of the abbreviations used in the book:
